Expanded metal mesh derives its name from the stretching of the
material that results from the shearing of the metal plate,
creating a diamond-shaped pattern. They are formed by cuts in the
transverse direction and at the same time stretching in length
without loss of material. The mesh made from sheets or strips of
material are neither woven nor welded.
